Flexible Assembly Inspection System (FAVS)

A common task in many manufacturing operations is the inspection of an assembly to verify correct assembly.  The FAVS system provides the platform for the inspection of a wide range of items by checking the following:

• Verification of presence/absence of all components
• Check position and alignment of components
• Verify component correctness by shape and or colour

Features:

• Full graphical display of part being inspected and all inspection regions to aid set-up and configuration
• Inspection logging for generation of production statistics
• Remote diagnostic option via network or modem
• Optional interface to PLCs or other control systems

Sheet Quality Inspection Device (SQUID)

The SQUID system was developed to aid the inspection of sheet materials such as plastics, metals or timber.  It performs the following checks:

• Detection of defects such as scratches or inclusions to less than 1mm
• Verification of dimensions and squareness
• Verification of colour consistency across the sheet

Features:

• Full graphical fault display identifying the location and type of the fault
• Inspection logging for generation of production statistics
• Remote diagnostic option via network or modem
• Optional interface to PLCs or other control systems
• Scaleable resolution to support sheets of various sizes

Bespoke System Development

There are times when an off-the-shelf inspection solution simply will not do.  APS Vision are experts in the design and development of inspection systems for demanding tasks. 

We can use a wide range of optical, lighting and camera technology to ensure that any part can be inspected regardless of size, complexity or material.  For many applications we have developed custom lighting solutions where no suitable standard part existed.

This approach is continued into the image processing and analysis aspects of the system.  We are able to draw in a wide range of algorithms to allow almost any item to be inspected.  We can perform the following checks:

• Presence or absence
• Component shape
• Surface finish
• Defect detection
• Measurement
• Colour classification
• Character recognition (OCR)
• Barcode and data matrix code reading

Where standard algorithms are not suitable we can develop custom routines to perform any type of analysis.

We are not simply an imaging technology company however, and we are aware that a significant part of the capability of a system comes from its user interface.  We develop the interfaces to our systems in conjunction with our customers to ensure ease of use and maximum flexibility.  Anything from a simple push button interface to a full graphical touchscreen is possible.
